What is a Personal Assistant (PA)?

Social Care Personal Assistants (commonly known as ‘PAs’) are employed to support people because of their age or disability, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Being employed as a PA is not just about supporting someone with their personal care. The majority of PAs are employed to support people with tasks such as domestic chores and assisting people to carry out social activities.

PAs are employed directly by people who receive a direct payment to arrange and pay for their support.
