Personal Assistant Vacancy / Skewen – 5hrs p/w

Job Title: Personal Assistant

Hours of Work: 5 hours per week to be worked Mon-Fri. Days to be discussed upon interview. On occasion hours may be banked to support with upcoming hospital appointments.

Rate of Pay: £12.00 per hour

Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance:

I am a man in my 50s, who is currently living in a care home. I am hoping to secure a small flat near the Gnoll area. This is where I grew up and where my mum and some of family still live. My family are very limited in the support they can provide due to their own health needs. I am very active and enjoy outdoor pursuits such as walking, exploring outdoors and my favourite place is the Gnoll. However, I am living with the effects of a stroke and my speech and left side have been affected the most. I am determined to keep and maintain my own independence; however this is difficult at times due to my limitations. I need support to help me communicate my needs when out in the community and support to help me pursue my interests and access the community safely.

 

Tasks Include:

  • Support me to access the community and enjoy my hobbies safely, whilst being mindful of any health needs.
  • Support to help me communicate my needs when out in the community.
  • Motivate me to lead a healthy, active lifestyle whilst being mindful of my health needs.
  • To support me to engage in social activities and suggest other suitable outdoor pursuits I may enjoy.
  • Support to help me around my new home, to help me maintain my independence and motivate me to do tasks for myself.
  • Support to manage correspondence and letters, to liaise with relevant services as required.

 

Personal Qualities and Attributes required:

A person who:

  • Is flexible, trustworthy and reliable.
  • Is approachable, friendly, and down to earth with a good sense of humour.
  • Has experience in supporting somebody with a stroke, however this is preferred but not essential.
  • Is a car driver and owner.

Additional Information:

This post will require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC).

Two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and MMI will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
